This 2024-2025 school year, our theme is Reclaim the Rain!
This Spring semester, we embark on a journey that encourages creativity and expression through the lens of the four elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Projects and experiences will culminate in a bound book, aptly titled “Reclaim the Rain: The Elements of Joy.” Each child will have their own personal keepsake filled with vibrant photos and samples of their amazing work, generously shared during our Final Spring Festival. The book will document the creation of a sculpture garden, supported by local artists and builders. We can’t wait to see what the WonderKids will create with the topics this Spring:
Earth: Through molding and shaping clay, children not only express their creativity, but also develop a tangible understanding of the materials that come from the Earth.
Water: Water, with its fluid movement and transformative nature, serves as a powerful symbol of life, renewal, and the ever-changing rhythms of our world. Projects exploring the Water element investigate its many powers through science, engineering, and art.
Fire: Fire possesses the remarkable ability to transform materials, igniting change and renewal, promoting growth, and fostering creativity through processes such as forging, cooking, and shaping unique works of art. Reeve Basom from the Center for Agricultural Economy brings fire-cooking projects, and more.
Air: Although we cannot see the Air element, we can feel it on our skin and in our lungs, and watch as it moves and feeds the world around us. Air is vital for our well-being. We will explore how mindfulness helps us connect to the Air element, and even use air in our art projects.
