What are Parentsquare and studentsquare?
ParentSquare (for families) and StudentSquare (for middle and high school students) are easy-to-use communication tools that combine multiple communication streams into one interface for families, staff, and students. Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union and its schools use ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.
Here’s what you can do with ParentSquare:
- Receive messages from the school via email, text or app notification
- Choose to receive information as it comes or all at once with a daily digest at 6 p.m.
- Communicate in your preferred language
- Comment on school postings to engage with your school community
- Direct message teachers and staff
- Participate in group messages
- Sign up for parent-teacher conferences

How Do I Opt In to Receive Communications?
You don’t have to take any action to receive emails, texts, or phone calls, but when you activate your ParentSquare account by creating a password, you will open up many additional opportunities. Our student information system syncs contact information directly with ParentSquare, so once you are logged in, you will have access to news and announcements from your student’s school(s) and will have all this information in a centralized location. Once your account is activated, you can also set preferences for your notifications. If you want to utilize the ParentSquare mobile app, simply download it from the app store and follow the prompts. If you do not activate your account by logging in to the website, you will still receive emails, texts, or phone calls from the school and district.

Can I Direct Message My Child’s Teacher?
It is possible to contact your child's teacher privately by using the direct messaging tool if they are utilizing ParentSquare. It is not required that teachers in all schools use ParentSquare for communications, so please use the communication tool your classroom teachers have indicated they prefer. If they are using ParentSquare, once you are logged in, click on "Messaging" in the left sidebar. From there, you can send a direct message to your child's teacher that only you and the teacher can see. You also can send messages to other staff members at the school, such as your child's principal. Here is a link to the help page on direct messaging.
