Preschool Registration is Open!
2025-2026 School Year Registration
Do you have a child that will be 3, 4, or 5 on September 1, 2025, living in Craftsbury, Greensboro, Hardwick, Stannard, Wolcott, or Woodbury? You are eligible to access publicly-funded preschool education through OSSU! For the 2025-2026 school year, there are two ways to access publicly funded preschool in our region:
1. Public preschool (Pre-K) programs at two OSSU schools: the Lakeview Preschool Campus in Greensboro and the Craftsbury Schools Elementary Campus in Craftsbury.
2. Private Universal Pre-K (UPK) programs. ACT 166 allows for publicly funded prekindergarten education. See details below.
OSSU Public Preschool Programs
Our public school preschool programs will be offered at two sites for the 2025-2026 school year: Craftsbury Elementary School (three days per week, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 8am-noon) in Craftsbury, VT and the Lakeview Preschool Campus (full day, full week), in Greensboro, VT. You can request to enroll in either of these programs.
Is there a tuition cost?
There is no tuition cost to attend any OSSU public preschool program.
Is there a preference system for enrollment in a particular program?
In-district students will be given preference over out-of-district students. For example, students residing in a Mountain View Union Elementary School District member town (Greensboro, Hardwick, Woodbury, or Stannard) will be given a spot in the Lakeview preschool program before a student residing in Craftsbury could enroll.
Is there busing to the preschool programs?
OSSU offers busing from Woodbury and Hardwick Elementary Schools to the Lakeview preschool program. Any enrolled student can access busing from Woodbury or Hardwick Elementary to Lakeview, regardless of their hometown. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the school bus stop. You will be able to request this busing service during the enrollment process. “Home-to-school” busing is not available for preschool students for any OSSU preschool program and there is no busing to the Craftsbury program.

Private Universal Pre-K (UPK) Programs
You can find UPK programs on the Vermont Agency of Education website. Hours and days of operation vary at the private UPK programs; please contact your program of choice for more information. Act 166 of 2014 provides for universal access to 10 hours per week of publicly funded prekindergarten education for 35 weeks. For eligible students enrolled in a UPK program, OSSU will provide 10 hours per week of tuition reimbursement for 35 weeks. Additional time spent at the program may incur an additional cost to the family. If you choose to enroll in an UPK program, you will enroll in your program of choice AND complete OSSU online enrollment to receive tuition reimbursement. Your child will not be considered "registered" and will not receive Act 166 funding until all of the required documents have been received by the public school.
