Working together to be stronger together…
Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union (OSSU) serves school age children in the towns of Craftsbury, Greensboro, Hardwick, Stannard, Wolcott and Woodbury. Our schools are a source of pride in our communities. We believe in creating strong student, family, staff, and community partnerships with the goal of providing an education that is relevant and meaningful to each child in our districts. Understanding that our students will be competing on a global level, we aim to offer programs and practices that respect diversity, embrace excellence, promote equity, and encourage lifelong learning. We take our responsibility seriously and appreciate the opportunity to work together to be stronger together in our school communities.
Our Mission
Empowering students with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to be college and career ready and become successful, responsible and contributing members of both local and global society.
Six schools serve approximately 1,190 PK-12 students across six towns, and four counties with a total of six school boards.

Vermont ACT 46
On June 1, 2018 the Vermont Agency of Education released the Proposed Statewide Plan for School District Governance 2015 Acts and Resolves No. 46, Sec. 10(a).
OSSU Framework for Continuous Growth
OSSU's Framework for Continuous Growth outlines the goals of the Supervisory Union and its member districts over five years and incorporates many aspects of Act 77 (personalized learning plans, proficiency based learning, flexible pathways, place based learning) and Act 46 (expanding learning opportunities for all students, meeting education quality standards and governance).
Our framework is also aligned with the Vermont Education Quality Standards.
Our Four Primary Strategic Goals:
- Prepare our students to be college and career ready by raising the academic and social emotional learning bar and closing the Pre-K-12 gaps to student achievement.
- Engage stakeholders (parents, students, staff, and community) in two-way communication focused on equity and excellence.
- Create effective organizational systems that reinforce equity and excellence.
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a diverse and premier workforce.
